HOW IT WORKS:

  • Art for the People Gallery is doing Invite Only Open Calls for select artists. 
     

  • You are applying to show and sell art at Art for the People Gallery. 
     

  • Your art may join the current exhibition or be for a future exhibition. 

  • When your art is selected, our Creative Director, Lynnie, will discuss this with you.

  • PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE GUIDELINES.

  • ** IF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES IT WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

  • ** The sooner you apply, the better. Spots will be filled as art comes in and is accepted. Please apply properly and follow guidelines.

OPEN CALL FOR ALL MEDIUMS: VISUAL & FUNCTIONAL ART

  • Visual & Functional Art

  • 2D art & 3D art

  • Painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, fiber, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, etc.

  • No specific theme

  • You create it! Send it in!

ARTWORK TAG INFORMATION: (submitted in the body of the email)

  • Submit the following artwork information, in this order, in the body of the email. (single space, not bullet pointed)

    • (refer to email example at top of page)
       

  • Title of artwork

  • Artist's Name

  • Medium

  • Dimensions (Height x Length) (Include outer measurement / frame)

  • Year artwork was created

  • Price (50% - artist / 50% - Art For The People Gallery)
     

  • Meaning/inspiration of art piece
     

  • GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST (please include minimum of 3 sentences about you! It can be serious or fun/whimsical, you can be wordy!)

  • Please coordinate the artwork information and the photo attached with matching numbering.

HOW MANY PIECES CAN YOU SUBMIT? & NEED ARTIST PHOTO

  • Minimum: 3 pieces / No maximum number

  • Submit 1 - 2 photograph/s per artwork. 

  • 1 -2 Photo/s of  each artwork - preferably straight on photo of artwork hanging on wall with space around it

  • Label each Art Photo as:

    • 1-First Name-Last Name-Title of piece-Art-For-The-People-Gallery-Austin-Art-Gallery-Local-Art

  • Example: 

    • 1-Hallie-Rae-Ward-Lemon-Square-Art-For-The-People-Gallery-Austin-Art-Gallery-Local-Art
       

  • Photo of Artist: 

    • We want a photo of you in your art habitat.

      • A photo of you working on art or at least with your art

      • We have a digital picture frame that we feature the artists on.

  • Label Artist Photo (photo of self) as:

    • Artist Name-Photo-of-Artist-Art-For-The-People-Gallery-Austin-Art-Gallery-Local-Art

  • Example:

  • Attach all images as an ATTACHMENT to the email (not in the body of the email)

  • ** If you cannot attach all photos in one email, send a second email with additional photos and title your email subject line,

  • " Artist Name - AFTPG Open Call (Part 2) "

MAXIMUM SIZE OF ARTWORK & TIME FRAME ARTWORK MUST BE CREATED

  • Maximum Size: No limits!

  • Minimum Size: 12" x 12" (unframed)
     

  • Canvas Artwork: If it's less than 1.5" depth, must be framed.

  • Mattes & Frames - If your artwork needs a matte and a frame, we recommend steering away from the white matte with the white frame look. Artwork in wood or another color frame compliments the art better in our space. 
     

  • Recommend submitting artworks of varying sizes.

  • Artwork must be created in 2020-present

IMAGES of Artwork and Photo of Self: 

  • ** WE PUT THE PHOTOS ON OUR WEBSITE, ECOMMERCE, & SOCIAL MEDIA.

  • ** Photo of self is for our digital slideshow showcasing the exhibition artists. 
     

  • PLEASE SEND THE BEST PHOTOS POSSIBLE OF YOUR WORK.
     

  • CROP - crop the photo so your artwork is the only object on the wall/ surface. We do not want furniture or other items in the photos.

  • STRAIGHTEN / LEVEL - make sure your artwork is level in the photo. Make sure when you are holding your camera straight & your artwork is level. If you notice your artwork is crooked, edit it before submitting.

  • EDIT - edit each photo so that it shows your work to its best and truest form.

PRICE:

  • List your retail price.

  • 50% goes to the artist / 50% goes to Art For The People Gallery
